2015 was a great year for The Roasting Shed. And we start 2016 full of expectation and with the exciting news that we have moved to a new space in Queens Yard, Hackney Wick.

With thanks to our friends at Crate Brewery our move went very smoothly over the festive season and we are back up and roasting at full steam.

You’ll find us at Mick’s Garage, Unit 8A, Queen’s Yard, Hackney Wick, E9 5EN.  In a warehouse catering to all hunger and thirst requirements, we consider ourselves mightily fortunate to be the neighbours of Crate’s new Kombucha Jarr Bar and Berber & Q’s Middle Eastern smokehouse Shuk Shuk. We are also very excited to be working with the world famous Counter Cafe just around the corner.

Caffeine Photography

Caffeine Magazine (2)

On a rainy day in September, Kate Beard of Caffeine magazine came for a visit on an interesting mission.  Her goal was to develop 35mm film of speciality coffee roasters and develop the shots in coffee produced by the same roaster. Our Ethiopian Konjo seems to have produced some very nice results.

Thank you Kate.

Reddy Review Alto Redondo

Many thanks to Shan Reddy of Reddy Review for a very favourable cupping evaluation of our Colombian Alto Redondo.

Reddy Review

Rating: 94/100

This coffee is a great representation of the benefits of extensive cupping, bold roasting, and selective sourcing. Imported from French-Colombian collaborative specialty coffee venture The Beans on Fire, this coffee hits all of the best notes along the entire production process, from seed to cup.

The Young Britsih Foodies

A belated thank you to Gabrielle Brown, Vicki Barker and Lily Vanilli at the Young British Foodies Awards.

It was an honour to be shortlisted for the Coffee category.

This year’s Awards, thanks to the incredible support and generosity of Tate Food, took place at Tate Britain in London on Tuesday 15 September. As predicted, it was even bigger and better than previous years and a testament to the dedication, creativity and sheer talent of everyone involved.

As usual, a whole spectrum of entrants, short-listers and winners from past and present put together to produce an incredible menu for the event. Check it out here.
