Remolinos is a regional blend from South Huila, Colombia, highlighting the Pink Bourbon variety. Sourced again from Laura and William at Minga, whose care and long-standing relationships with the farmers make them one of our most loved partners in Colombia. Grown in one of Colombia’s most fertile agricultural regions, coffees here border the Colombian Massif, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where mountain ranges converge and many of the country’s major rivers are born. This area provides nearly 70% of Colombia’s freshwater for drinking and irrigation. The name Remolinos refers to the swirling whirlpools that form frequently in the many rivers that run down the mountains and valleys of South Huila.

This coffee undergoes a washed process, in which the outer fruit layers are removed before drying. This method brings exceptional clarity to the cup, allowing the coffee’s natural brightness and delicate florality to shine through while keeping its pronounced sweetness. Pink Bourbon, celebrated for its sweetness and layered complexity, is increasingly favoured by producers in the region for its resilience against coffee leaf rust and its excellent cup quality. Although its yields are typically lower than modern hybrid varieties, its outstanding flavour profile makes it a treasured choice among producers, roasters and coffee-drinkers.

The resulting cup is sweet and well-rounded. Gentle notes of green grape acidity bring complexity while white tea florals bring elegance, which complement the coffee’s underlying panela-like sweetness. The finish is smooth and silky, with a medium-weight mouthfeel.
