We continue to search for the best seasonal coffees to make our classic house espresso blend. Quality and consistency are at the forefront of our minds when searching for components and we’re happy to announce our new blend is no exception.
This season’s blend highlights a natural Brazil grown along the mountain range of ‘Serra de Mantiquiera’ in the south of the Minas Gerais state. The Mantiquiera de Minas region boasts a century-old tradition of exceptional coffee production and is recognised as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This coffee was grown by Fairtrade-certified producers, of which 89% are smallholder farms, represented by Ascarive Cooperative. Fairtrade has allowed Ascarive to support its small-scale farmers in obtaining fairer prices for their coffees, producing sustainably and improving their coffee quality.
To complement the main component of our carefully crafted blend, we have selected a washed process coffee grown in the region of Huila in Colombia. This lot enjoys a favourable location because it has all the thermal floors: warm, temperate and cold, which offers great possibilities in terms of agricultural production diversification and of land use in general.
Our idea of a blend is a way to create something that is greater than its parts alone. Our natural Brazil provides prominent sweetness and body while our washed Colombian brings nuttiness and gentle fruit undertones. These two come together beautifully to form our blend; a rich yet balanced flavour profile, showcasing notes of almond, chocolate and fudge.
