Gisanga - Rwanda
Honeydew / Elderflower / Blackcurrant
The team at TRS are excited and proud to share with you our newest coffee: Gisanga, a red bourbon varietal sourced from Rwanda. This coffee has a distinct set of seasonal notes; sweet honeydew, delicate elderflower and tart blackcurrant. The coffee is washed using ‘Theresa’s natural spring’, named after the family Theresa, who first used the spring to wash coffee in the 1980’s.
We sourced this lot from Tropic Coffee, a company who upholds a strong ethical code and focus on sustainability. They prioritise supporting female farmers through community training, concentrating on organic and shade-grown methods. This is made possible through their contribution to opening a range of small field schools in local villages. Plantations are intercropped with maise, cassava and bananas to maintain biodiversity.
