Red Apple / Honey / Gingernut

Our final Ethiopian offering of the year is sweet and clean, with all the clarity and character we love in a washed Ethiopian coffee. Expect crisp red apple up front, followed by a smooth, honeyed sweetness and a gentle gingernut spice on the finish.

This is our second year featuring coffee from Daye Bensa, a family-run producer and exporter based in Sidama, sourced through importers Coffee Legends.

Daye Bensa works with smallholder farmers through a network of washing stations across Ethiopia. This lot brings together coffee grown by around 250 farmers in the neighbouring Roricho and Bohira Kebeles of Worka, West Arsi, before being processed at Bishan Guracha Station.

Region

Bishan Guracha Station sits at 2,050 metres above sea level in Worka, Nensebo, within the West Arsi Zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia Region. Surrounded by dense vegetation and high-altitude growing conditions, the station takes its name from a major river that flows through the highlands of West Arsi - Bishan Guracha translates to “Black Water” in the local language.
